LICHTRAUSCH transforms six fictional Impressionist masters and twelve imaginary masterworks into a fully immersive environment. Sound, light, and projection technology dissolve the boundaries between viewer and painting. Step inside the brushstroke.

Floor-to-ceiling imagery surrounds you on every side. Six custom projectors dissolve the boundaries of room and canvas, placing you inside the world of the paintings.

Spatial Sound

An original score — birdsong, river water, distant church bells, wind through lavender — plays through a 32-channel spatial audio system that responds to where you stand.

All artists and works are entirely invented. Their imagined lives, palettes, and obsessions were conceived to represent the full breadth of Impressionist practice.

The Halls

Three Immersive Rooms

Each of the three projection halls tells a different chapter of the Impressionist story. Together they form a complete, 60-minute journey through light and colour.

Hall of Light

The largest of the three projection spaces spans 800 m² of floor-to-ceiling canvas. Gardens and riverscapes unfurl at a scale that makes you feel you are standing inside the pigment itself. A 360-degree soundscape of birdsong, distant bells, and slow wind completes the illusion.

The Enchanted Forest

Walk through an ever-shifting forest of painted light: dappled canopy, meadow clearings, and sudden bursts of poppy-red on the floor beneath your feet. The projections respond subtly to visitor movement, ensuring no two visits are identical.

Atelier du Crépuscule

Studio of Twilight

The most intimate hall — a reconstruction of a 19th-century Impressionist studio at the golden hour. Portraits glow on every wall; still lifes occupy every surface. As the light slowly dims and then returns, you witness a full day's worth of painting in ten minutes.
